This late 19th or early 20th-century watercolour on paper depicts an atmospheric Scottish Highland loch scene at dusk. The composition features a white-walled thatched cottage or bothy nestled beside trees on the left shoreline. A lone figure is positioned in a rowing boat on the water, with several birds in flight in the lower foreground. Towering mountains rise in the background under a soft, light-filled sky, executed in a traditional British school style with gentle tonal washes. The work is signed J. D. Liddell in brown paint to the lower right corner. The painting is unframed and unmounted.
