This lot comprises a Japanese-style lacquer box, a group of assorted lace and embroidered textiles, and two machine-woven tapestries. The rectangular box is finished in a deep burgundy lacquer with a black interior and features a gilt and polychrome decoration to the lid depicting a bird perched on a branch with gold-toned foliage. The front of the box is fitted with a small metal keyhole escutcheon. The textile collection includes an assortment of lace trimmings, doilies, and embroidered linens made from cotton and silk threads. Patterns include floral motifs, scrollwork, and net-ground lace, with some pieces featuring blue embroidered details and drawn-thread work. The two matching machine-woven tapestries depict Orientalist desert scenes with figures in traditional Middle Eastern attire, camels, palm trees, and cityscapes with domes and minarets. One scene specifically shows a market setting with figures seated on a rug.
