A large vintage ceramic garden ornament in the form of a curled or seated cat, dating from circa 1970. The piece is finished in a high-gloss, mottled spruce green glaze with a fine textured surface. A contrasting pale cream and brown mottled glaze is applied to the front paws and the tip of the tail. The cat features prominent, stylised eyes with white surrounds and large black pupils. The item is hollow-cast from a dark reddish-brown earthenware body, with an unglazed base rim showing the natural clay. No maker marks or signatures are visible. The ornament is accompanied by a handwritten card identifying the piece as a 1970s vintage limited edition garden ornament from Woolworths.
