A British military sweetheart bar brooch for the Royal Corps of Signals. The central 9 carat gold motif features a blue enamelled oval frame inscribed with ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS, enclosing a figure of Mercury standing upon a globe. The badge is surmounted by a red enamelled Tudor crown. The emblem is mounted on a plain gold bar. The reverse of the badge is stamped with the maker’s mark RPLD and 9CT indicating 9 carat gold purity. The brooch is fitted with a traditional pin and hinge mechanism and a swivel safety catch. The item is accompanied by its original blue faux-leather presentation box with a cream silk-effect lining, bearing the retailer’s mark for Coliseum Jewellers, Whitley Bay.
