A 19th-century clear lead glass vessel of substantial height, likely intended for use as a decanter or decorative apothecary jar. The item features a hand-blown pear-shaped body of plain form with a ground neck. The base is slightly concave and exhibits a rough-snapped pontil mark, consistent with 19th-century manufacturing techniques. It is paired with an exceptionally tall, hand-cut glass stopper. The stopper is decorated with vertical faceted fluting to the upper needle section and diamond-cut facets to the bulbous mid-section. A hand-scribed numeral 7 is visible on the ground neck of the stopper, serving as a matching number to ensure it remained with the correctly ground vessel. This style, known for its disproportionately tall spire, was a popular decorative form in Victorian England and is sometimes referred to as a Persian shape.
