A vintage industrial mechanical manual time recording stamp, or horodateur, by the manufacturer Erfu. The device is constructed from a heavy cast metal body and base finished in a grey crinkle-effect hammer tone paint. It features a contoured black composite or Bakelite operating handle. At the rear, an integrated circular 8-day mechanical clock is set in a polished metal housing with a brass-rimmed bezel. The cream-coloured dial displays Arabic numerals and is marked with a sunburst logo containing the letters ERFU, and the text Patent and 7 Rubis. The rear of the clock unit is marked in cursive script Erfu and in block lettering with the multilingual identification Zeitstempel / time stamp / horodateur. The text 8 days / jours is located above the central winding and setting mechanism. The lower rear base is stamped with the serial number 03005. The stamping head includes adjustable metal type wheels and an internal ribbon mechanism.
