A late 19th-century French double-globe seltzogene, or soda syphon, manufactured by D. Fevre of Paris. The item features a two-part clear glass body with a smaller upper globe and a larger lower globe joined at a narrow neck. The entire glass body is encased in a protective twisted iron wire mesh in a wicker pattern. The white metal head assembly, likely composed of a pewter or lead-based alloy, includes a curved spout and a top-mounted lever handle. The metal collar is embossed with the markings Veritable Seltzogene D. Fevre Paris and includes a script signature reading D Fevre above the block letters Marque Déposée. This design, known as a gazogène, was used for home carbonation using chemical powders.
