A small, solid-cast patinated bronze sculpture of a songbird, naturalistically modelled with puffed, textured plumage and a resting posture. The piece is finished with a dark brown patina, showing subtle wear and highlights to the high points of the head, beak, and wings, which reveal a warmer copper-toned metal beneath. The underside is unfinished and irregular, displaying traces of the casting process and spots of green verdigris oxidation. The sculpture is self-supporting on its integral base and contains no visible maker marks, signatures, or foundry stamps.
Approximately 4cm x 6cm x 3cm.
