A trio of Eastern-themed decorative items comprising two Buddha figurines and a pierced metal incense burner. The first item is a reclining Budai, or Laughing Buddha, figurine crafted from glazed and biscuit stoneware. The figure is depicted reclining against a sack with his right hand resting on a string of prayer beads. The skin is finished in a matte, unglazed brown clay with white slip-bead detailing to the forehead, while the robes feature a thick, mottled blue and white flambé style glaze. The second item is a cylindrical incense stick holder made of cast metal with an antiqued patinated finish. The central column features intricate pierced openwork depicting dragons amongst scrolling clouds and traditional architecture, supported by a flared, gadrooned pedestal base and topped with a removable conical cap. The third item is a seated Buddha statue in the padmasana, or lotus position, with hands held in anjali mudra. This figurine is made from a cast composite material with an antiqued bronzed finish, featuring traditional snail curl hair, elongated earlobes, and robes detailed with incised scrolling borders. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible on any of the items.
