An assortment of mid-20th-century advertising and household items, primarily originating from the North East of England. The collection includes a black vulcanised fibreboard industrial storage crate with metal-reinforced corners and wire loop handles, stencilled Wilkinson and Simpson Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne. Confectionery and tobacco advertising are represented by a large lithographed Welch’s Sixteen Favourites tin and a one-pound Ogden’s St. Bruno Flake tobacco tin. Pharmaceutical items comprise a yellow Allen and Hanburys Ltd Choledyl tablet tin and a small chemist’s tin from Williamson and Hogg Ltd, North Shields, hand-inscribed Fuchsine. Further items include a chrome-plated metal soda syphon with red plastic head and bands, a blue-printed Horlicks earthenware mug, a ceramic pitcher with a pink central band and metal lid, a cylindrical metal vessel, and three decorative candles featuring an owl head, a pressed leaf, and a cherub figure.
