A German First World War Iron Cross First Class (Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse). The award features a multi-piece construction with a black-finished core set within a silver-toned ribbed frame. The obverse is embossed with a central uppercase W, a royal crown on the upper arm, and the date 1914 on the lower arm. The reverse displays a textured surface with a vertical pin-back fastening for attachment to a uniform. The medal is housed in its original square presentation case. The case has a black textured exterior featuring a silver-coloured outline of an Iron Cross on the lid. The interior is lined with a cream-coloured fabric to the lid and a recessed beige velvet base to hold the award.



Information from the seller is that this WW2 item is belonged to a family member Mr A M Crozier PTE 1472133 who was born 29th December 1905. Who served in the local and then National Fire Service (AFS) part time from January 1939 until 17/8/1944.He joined the armed forces at the age of 38 on 15/2/1944 and was posted out in Europe, It believed this item was collected when he wasbased in Germany. We have had access to the familys persoanl military records and can confirm that the career is as stated above. Please also see LOT 55 as these items relates to A M Croziers career
