Lot 77: A Collection of Roman Bronze Coins, 3rd to 4th Century AD

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of seven Roman imperial bronze coins dating from the late 3rd to the late 4th century AD. The lot features various denominations including AE3 and AE4 issues. Included is a contemporary “barbarous radiate” imitation of Tetricus II (c. 270-273 AD). Later imperial rulers represented include Gratian (367-383 AD), Constans (337-350 AD), Constantius II (337-361 AD), and Constantine II (337-340 AD). Reverse types identified by handwritten labels include Securitas Reipublicae (Victory walking left), Victoriae DD AVGG Q NN (two Victories), and Gloria Exercitus (two soldiers with standards). The coins are struck in copper-alloy and exhibit natural dark brown to black patinas. Each specimen is housed in an individual plastic sleeve with a corresponding identification slip.
