A two-tone stoneware bottle for Fentiman’s Ginger Beer, dated 1964. The upper portion features a rich, dark brown glaze, contrasting with the lighter, unglazed or differently glazed base. It retains its original screw-on cap, which bears the inscription “FENTIMAN’S GINGER BEER”. The shoulder of the bottle is prominently inscribed with black lettering stating: “TO BUY, TO SELL OR MAKE USE OF THIS BOTTLE IS ILLEGAL PLEASE RETURN WHEN EMPTY 1964”. Below this, a circular stamp on the lighter body reads “FENTIMAN’S BOTTLING CO LTD DIRECT SUPPLY” encircling a stylized illustration of a dog. Further text on the lower body clarifies, “THE CONTENT OF THIS BOTTLE IS A BREWED BOTANIC BEVERAGE CONTAINING YEAST, ” followed by additional fainter text.
