A substantial philatelic collection encompassing multiple binders filled with postage stamps and numerous First Day Covers (FDCs). The collection features diverse issues from France, the United States of America, Japan, and Great Britain, spanning a broad chronological period from the late 19th century, including early British Penny Red/Lilac-style issues, to the early 21st century, with Royal Mail Millennium FDCs dated 1999-2000 visible. Stamps depict a variety of subjects including monarchs, historical figures such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and George Eastman, national landmarks, flora, fauna, and commemorative events including the 1948 Olympic Games, Alaska Statehood, and various French themes such as “Joutes Nautiques” (Nautical Jousts), “Natation” (Swimming), and “Escrime” (Fencing). Visible markings include “U.S. POSTAGE, ” “REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, ” “Nippon Yūbin” (日本郵便 – Japan Post), and “POSTAGE” with denominations in Cents, Pennies, Francs, Sen, and Yen. Many items bear postal cancellations or “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE” markings. Several FDCs are addressed to collectors in Northumberland, England, some with postal instructions like “Par Avion” (By Airmail) and “Express Fee Paid.” The items, primarily paper, are organized within various albums utilizing plastic sleeves and board covers, with some FDCs protected in Kraft paper envelopes.
