A single ceramic vase attributed to Poole Pottery, featuring the distinctive ‘Galaxy’ pattern, also known as ‘Lava Glaze’ or ‘Metallic Galaxy.’ The vase has a globular body rising to a short neck with a flared rim, consistent with Mid-Century Modern design. The exterior is finished in a dark, slightly metallic or iridescent glaze, providing a backdrop for randomly placed abstract circular spots decorated with layered, flowing glazes in shades of red, orange, and white. The interior is finished in a contrasting glossy black glaze. The vase is marked on the base with an impressed dolphin motif surrounded by the words POOLE, ENGLAND, and POTTERY, along with a handwritten white decorator’s mark ‘S’ or ‘5’. A blue oval paper label remains affixed to the side, reading Hand painted, Poole Pottery, and in Poole, Dorset.
