Royal Air Force, No. 13 Group Headquarters (Fighter Command), hand-painted oak wall plaque and associated nameplate. The plaque is named to W/O. S. B. Hipkin, W/O. Operations. The reverse features a hand-stencilled maker’s mark for C. F. Moxon, Newcastle, dated June 1943. Historically, No. 13 Group was responsible for the air defence of Northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland during the Second World War, with its headquarters situated at Kenton Bar, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The insignia depicts a green sphere pierced by a diagonal arrow within a garter, surmounted by a Tudor Crown and the motto Non Cramben Sed Carnem. The accompanying nameplate features the Royal Coat of Arms and decorative hand-painted borders.
