A large Chinese polychrome porcelain figure representing Fu, the Star God of Prosperity. The figure is depicted as a bearded official in flowing robes, holding a young child in his right arm and a green ruyi scepter in his left hand. The child is shown holding a gold ingot, a traditional symbol of wealth and offspring. The robes are decorated in a palette of turquoise, iron-red, pink, and yellow enamels, featuring a qilin, crashing waves at the hem, scrolling floral patterns, and auspicious cloud motifs. Gilt highlights are applied to the headgear, the borders of the robes, and the child’s attire. The figure stands on a rounded base decorated with a pink floral diaper ground above a green and white rim. The unglazed underside features a central circular firing hole and shows no visible reign marks, symbols, or stamps.
