A 1940s Japanese style cast iron garden lantern of pagoda form. The lantern is constructed from cast iron with a heavily textured orange-peel surface. The design features a flared square roof with trefoil decorative piercings, topped with a domed finial and a circular wire-work carrying handle. The hexagonal central light chamber is composed of open lattice-work panels, including a single hinged door for interior access to a candle or light source. The structure is supported by a three-legged base with flared, scalloped feet. No maker’s marks or signatures are present.
