A cast iron advertising figure produced by Cannon Industries Ltd of Coseley, West Midlands. The piece depicts the Esso mascot Andy Slick, a personified oil drop character. The figure is designed with a yellow head and white body, rendered in a saluting pose with one hand to the brow and the opposite hand behind the back. The chest features the Esso logo in red within a blue oval, and the front of the circular base displays a smaller Esso logo above the name Andy Slick in blue lettering. The underside of the base is cast with the manufacturer mark Cannon Ind. Ltd Coseley and reveals two slotted screws that secure the figure to the base. The entire surface is finished in a textured or pebbled paint. This item is a modern reproduction of a mid-20th-century advertising design.
