A cold-cast porcelain figurine from the James Herriot collection by Border Fine Arts, titled Winter Rescue, model number JH41. The group depicts a shepherd wearing a flat cap, brown overcoat, and black wellington boots, carrying a Swaledale ram across his shoulders through deep snow. A black and white border collie is positioned at his feet, partially submerged in the snow. The scene includes a section of dry stone wall with moss and snow accents, all mounted on an oval dark wood plinth. The reverse of the stone wall is incised with the marks (c) 1989, JAMES HERRIOT, BFA SCOTLAND, and the artist name ANNE BUTLER above an AB monogram. The underside is finished with green felt and bears a gold paper label stating HAND MADE IN SCOTLAND BY BORDER FINE ARTS.
