A mid-20th century wooden serving tray by Charles, featuring a central rectangular panel under glass decorated with a kaleidoscopic arrangement of iridescent butterfly wings in tones of blue, yellow, and brown. The wooden frame is embellished with a geometric marquetry border and incorporates integrated handles at either end. The reverse bears a partial gold-tone paper label with red script reading Charles over a butterfly motif, with the location AV. RIO BRANCO 11 • RIO DE JANEIRO • TEL – 23 4341 printed below. The item is of Brazilian origin, typical of mid-century export ware from the region.
