Steven Bayley – A collection of six small-scale intaglio prints, including etchings and drypoints, depicting various social and urban scenes. The subjects include London landmarks such as the London Eye and a double-decker bus, alongside social gatherings and figurative studies. The print titled ‘London Bus’ includes colour, likely applied via hand-tinting or a multi-plate process. Each print displays a visible plate mark and is presented in a white mount. The works are inscribed in pencil along the lower margins with edition numbers, titles, and artist signatures or initials. Five prints are initialled ‘SB’ and one is signed ‘Brook’. The specific inscriptions are: ‘2/10 Rollercoaster SB’, ‘6/75 London Bus Brook’, ‘1/10 SUN HAT SB’, ‘7/10 Barflies SB’, ‘3/20 Bonfire SB’, and ‘4/10 London Eye SB’. The technique utilised involves deep biting and dense cross-hatching to create rich textures and strong tonal contrasts.
