Attributed to Maitland Smith, this Art Deco style sculpture depicts a seated sighthound, likely a greyhound or whippet, cast in a dark-patinated bronze. The work is characterised by strong stylisation typical of the period, featuring an elongated, geometric head and a rhythmic, deeply recessed treatment of the ribcage. The figure is mounted on a rectangular plinth of veined white and grey marble. No signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are visible on the metalwork or the marble base; the underside of the base is covered with a dark green protective felt. The casting shows a high level of detail in the sleek musculature and stylised features.
