This contemporary work is an accomplished oil on canvas copy after Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s 1601 masterpiece, The Supper at Emmaus. The composition depicts the dramatic moment when the resurrected Christ reveals his identity to two disciples during a meal. The artist has employed a strong chiaroscuro technique, casting deep shadows across the background to highlight the central figures and the still life arrangement on the table, which includes bread, a basket of fruit, and a cooked fowl. The brushwork is smooth and controlled, particularly in the detailed rendering of textures and garments. An illegible signature or artist mark is present in the lower right-hand corner. The painting is presented in a modern, flat-profile black frame.
