A pair of turned olive wood candlesticks originating from Jerusalem. The design features a double-open spiral stem, commonly referred to as an open barley twist. Each candlestick is topped with a flared nozzle bearing black printed inscriptions reading Jerusalem and ירושלים (the Hebrew name for Jerusalem). The items sit on stepped, circular dished bases. The wood exhibits a characteristic high-contrast grain with warm golden-brown and dark brown swirling tones. The undersides are plain, showing a central guide hole from the lathe-turning process.
