An earthenware pitcher of wedge-shaped Art Deco form produced by Carlton Ware. The piece features a cream-coloured body with relief-moulded decoration of a single tulip in yellow and orange tones, set against sweeping blue-green foliage. The decoration is hand-accented with underglaze colours. The vessel is designed with a sharp, angular spout and a broad, curved handle characteristic of the period. The base bears several underglaze marks in blue, including the script maker’s mark Carlton Ware, Made in England, Trade Mark, and Registered, along with the text Australian Registration Applied For.
