A collection of Hornsea Pottery stoneware tablewares in the ‘Contrast’ pattern, designed by Martin Hunt. The service is produced in Lancaster Vitramic stoneware, featuring a matt chocolate-brown exterior with a contrasting white glazed interior. The modernist decoration consists of a fine white pinstripe and a dark, glossy band around the base. The set includes a coffee pot with lid, a lidded sugar bowl, a milk jug, several cups, several saucers, and several side plates. The underside of the pieces features a circular printed maker’s mark for LANCASTER VITRAMIC with the Hornsea bird logo, CONTRAST 1977, and HORNSEA ENGLAND.
