A vintage Chinese export-style jewellery box of rectangular form, constructed from a polished reddish-brown hardwood. The hinged lid features a central circular medallion carved with a stylised Shou longevity symbol. The exterior is embellished with decorative brass hardware, including engraved corner brackets with foliate designs and circular backplates with drop-ring handles to the sides. The front is fitted with a large decorative brass hasp and locking plate. The hasp plate features an embossed four-character inscription arranged around a central square, mimicking a Chinese coin. The characters read Kang (康), Xi (熙), Tong (通), and Bao (寶), representing the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (1661–1722); these are decorative apocryphal marks common on mid-20th-century export wares. The interior of the main compartment and the single pull-out drawer is lined with a bright red damask-style fabric with a repeating rose motif. The drawer includes integrated padded ring rolls to the sides.
