A decorative tusk-shaped sculpture crafted from a dense, cream-coloured resin composite designed to simulate carved ivory. The object features elaborate high-relief carving throughout its length depicting traditional Chinese motifs. The upper section shows cranes in flight amongst foliage, which are traditional symbols of longevity. The central portion depicts a seated Budai figure with a bare chest and prominent belly, positioned above a group of standing figures dressed in traditional scholarly or immortal robes. The base is decorated with galloping horses or mythological Qilin figures emerging from stylized, scrolling clouds and wave motifs. An incised rectangular cartouche is located near the tip, although the characters are not clearly legible. The carving is accented with intentional dark staining in the recesses to highlight the relief and simulate an aged appearance. The base is flat and solid.
Approximate length 42.5 cm.
