A collection of sixteen United Kingdom sixpence coins dating from 1937 to 1952, representing a complete date run for the reign of King George VI. The collection comprises coins struck in .500 fineness silver from 1937 to 1946, and cupronickel from 1947 to 1952. Each coin features the obverse portrait of King George VI facing left with the legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX. The reverse design for the years 1937 to 1948 consists of a crowned GRI monogram with the legend FID : DEF : IND : IMP, while the 1949 to 1952 issues feature a crowned GR monogram and the legend FID DEF. All coins have reeded edges. The set is housed in a commemorative red textured display mount within a clear protective cover, titled 1937 KING GEORGE VI SIXPENCES 1952 in gold-toned lettering.
