A collection of two brass metalware items. The first is a miner’s safety lamp manufactured by The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd of Eccles, Manchester. The lamp is constructed of copper and brass and features a glass cylinder within a five-bar protective cage. A circular brass maker’s plate is riveted to the upper cylinder, bearing the inscription Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd, Type 6, M & O Safety Lamps, Approval No. B/23, Makers Eccles. It is fitted with a circular suspension loop at the top and a locking screw mechanism at the base. The second item is a nautical-style wall-mounted bell cast in brass. It is mounted on a curved, pivoting bracket with a rectangular wall plate featuring two mounting holes. The clapper is equipped with a braided, knotted synthetic rope lanyard.
