A complete vintage The Simpsons 3-D Chess set, produced in 1997. The set contains thirty-two detailed plastic figurines of characters from the animated series, serving as the chess pieces. The pieces are divided into two teams, distinguished by green and blue circular bases. The character roles are as follows: Homer Simpson as King in royal robes and a crown; Marge Simpson as Queen in her standard attire with a crown; Grandpa Abe Simpson as Bishop holding a sword and shield; Maggie Simpson as Knight riding a rocking horse; Lisa Simpson as Rook; and Bart Simpson as Pawn in a suit of armour with a sword and shield. The set includes a folding glossy game board with a green and blue chequerboard pattern and the original illustrated cardboard box with internal plastic moulded storage trays. The lower margin of the game board is marked THE SIMPSONS, MATT GROENING, and TM & © 1997 20th Century Fox Film Corp. The box lid and sides are marked THE SIMPSONS 3-D CHESS and include character quotes STALEMATE, MAN! and EN GARDE, MAN!, as well as the age recommendation Ages 6 and up.
