A pair of substantial decorative relief-carved wax candles presented on handcrafted wrought iron floor stands. The set features two differently coloured wax cylinders, one in ochre and the other in terracotta tones. The ochre candle is intricately decorated with a pastoral romantic scene featuring figures amongst trees and foliage, framed by spiral-moulded borders at the top and base. The terracotta-coloured candle depicts a 19th-century urban street scene with figures standing before a multi-storey building, finished with scrollwork motifs to the top and base. Both candles are mounted on tall wrought iron floor stands. The stands consist of central shafts punctuated by open birdcage or twisted knops, supported by decorative tripod bases with scrolled feet. The ironwork displays a hammered texture with a black patinated finish. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are present on the wax or the metalwork.
