An earthenware vase produced by Arthur Wood and Son in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, featuring the relief-moulded Nile pattern. The vessel is designed with a tapered cylindrical body and a narrow pedestal-style foot. The exterior decoration consists of three horizontal bands of interlocking raised oval link motifs, with a band of vertical relief-moulded ribbing around the foot. The piece is finished in a high-gloss, variegated brown treacle glaze. The underside of the base is marked with the impressed words NILE and MADE IN ENGLAND, and features a green printed manufacturer mark in the centre reading ARTHUR WOOD ENGLAND below a stylised company logo.
