A pair of stoneware vases by Thurn Ware, a trade name used for art pottery produced by the Brixham Pottery in Devon, England. Each vase is designed with a bulbous, ovoid body that tapers into a tall, slightly flared neck. The exterior is finished in a mottled brown glaze, featuring hand-painted stylised fruit and leaf motifs. These decorations are executed in a textured, impasto-like application using burnt orange, buff, and dark green-blue glazes. The interiors are finished with a matching brown glaze. The underside of each vase features an unglazed brown clay base stamped with the mark Thurn Ware.
