This uranium glass basket belongs to the Pearline range produced by George Davidson and Co. of Gateshead, featuring the Primrose colourway. The piece is manufactured from pressed glass with a translucent pale yellow body and white opalescent treatment to the ruffled tri-point rim and three applied looped handles. Under ultraviolet light, the item exhibits the strong green fluorescence characteristic of uranium glass. The vessel is decorated with moulded horizontal ribbing on the body and sits on a moulded pedestal foot with a six-petalled scalloped edge and radial ribbing. This distinctive style and colour combination date to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, circa 1890-1910.
