This lot features a vintage British advertising water pitcher and a large group of cardboard drink coasters. The pitcher is constructed from glazed ceramic with a rectangular body and an integrated D-shaped handle. It is finished in a tan glaze and features a transfer print on the front for Stones Best Bitter, which includes a cannon motif within a red and white oval. The base of the pitcher is marked with a red circular backstamp for WADE pdm ENGLAND. The collection of coasters consists of multiple stacks of circular and scalloped cardboard beer mats representing various mid-20th century British tobacco brands. Brands included are Embassy, Woodbine, Wills Whiffs, Castella Cigars, Bell’s Three Nuns Tobacco, and Three Castles Filter. The coasters feature various slogans and graphic designs, such as Embassy – the best in smoking, Woodbine – Drink what you like. Smoke what you like, and Castella – Britain’s most popular large cigar.
