A pair of contemporary studio art glass candlesticks by the Swiss artist Pierre Giger. Each candlestick is constructed with a central tapering column of deep burgundy cased glass, encased in a thick layer of heavily manipulated clear glass. The exterior clear glass features a jagged, organic texture resembling melting ice or tree bark, flaring at the base and terminating in a textured crown at the candle cup. Both pieces are hand-finished, resulting in slight variations in height and form between the two. Each item is incised with the script signature Lu Pierre Giger to the polished base.
