Tom Manson (20th Century). A maritime harbour scene executed in oil on board. The composition features a cluster of fishing trawlers moored in a harbour at dusk or dawn, with the sky rendered in shades of peach and pale blue. A prominent green-hulled vessel in the mid-ground bears the port registration CK18, associated with Colchester. A white control tower or lighthouse is visible atop a verdant hill in the background. The work exhibits expressive brushwork and impasto techniques to define the vessels and surrounding environment. Signed Tom Manson in white paint to the lower right. Housed in a simple cream-painted wooden frame.
