A vintage gyroscopic wind-up toy titled The Tri-ang Gyro Cycle, manufactured by Lines Bros. Ltd under the Tri-ang brand name. The bicycle frame and wheels are constructed from lithographed and painted tinplate. The figure of the rider is made of a composition or early plastic material, featuring jointed legs and dressed in yellow fabric sleeves. The toy is designed with a gyroscopic mechanism, visible via the brass gearing on the front wheel. The item is presented with its original two-piece pictorial cardboard box and internal die-cut cardboard insert. The box lid features graphics of a rider and states the toy was the Invention of a famous aeroplane designer. The wheels are marked TRI-ANG CORD, MADE IN ENGLAND, and 935 x 135. The box lid bears the Tri-ang triangular logo and text including MADE IN ENGLAND, BRITISH PATENT PENDING, LINES BROS. LIMITED, and TRIANG WORKS LONDON S.W. 19. A red paper label for A. HAYES PICTURE FRAMER & GILDER, 72 Friargate, Preston, is affixed to the packaging.
