A Victorian style pedestal stand, suitable for use as a kettle stand or trivet. The item is constructed with a square, openwork cast iron top featuring an intricate pierced foliate and scrollwork design. This top is supported by a central turned brass stem of baluster form. The stand rests upon a circular domed cast iron base, decorated with relief-moulded scrollwork and foliate motifs, terminating in four shaped feet. The construction is characteristic of British domestic metalwork from the late 19th to early 20th century. No maker’s marks, stamps, or inscriptions are visible on the exterior surfaces of the piece.
