A Victorian Scottish sterling silver sugar sifter spoon, also known as a berry sifter. The object features a deep, circular bowl with decorative piercings arranged in a pattern of stars, dots, and scrolling foliage. The tapering handle terminates in a finely cast, pierced terminal depicting a Scottish thistle. The reverse of the stem bears a full set of British hallmarks. The hallmarks comprise the maker mark FK in a circular punch for Ferguson and MacBean of Inverness, the thistle standard mark for Scottish sterling silver, the three-towered castle assay mark for Edinburgh, and the gothic capital letter H date mark for 1889. The construction is solid sterling silver throughout.
