This sporting scene is an oil on stretched canvas depicting a pointer gundog in a field of tall grass and birch trees, flushing two game birds into flight. The painting is signed C. Hansen. in the lower left-hand corner. The piece is rendered in a traditional style with expressive, textured brushwork; heavy impasto is visible in the landscape and tree bark, while the dog and background sky are more delicately handled. It is housed in an ornate gilt-finished frame featuring a moulded decorative inner border and a neutral-toned linen slip.
