This lot comprises two watercolour paintings on paper by the artist Frank McCoy, depicting rural landscapes in High Friarside, Burnopfield, in the North East of England. Executed in a traditional realist style, the works feature light washes over visible graphite underdrawings. The first painting depicts a wooded lane and is signed Frank McCoy Nov 07 within the lower-right of the image, with a further inscription in the lower margin reading High Friarside, Burnopfield. The second painting shows a village road with stone cottages and is dated and initialled Dec 98 FMc in the lower-left margin, with a monogram and date 98 in the lower-right corner. Both works are housed in matching grey-washed, distressed-finish wooden frames with olive green mounts. An accompanying handwritten note identifies the artist as a property developer from Whickham who painted local subjects.
