This early-to-mid 20th-century watercolour on paper depicts a coastal view of Tynemouth, featuring the prominent ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle atop the cliffs. The work is executed in a loose, atmospheric style using transparent washes. A breakwater and beacon are visible on the distant horizon across the water. The painting is signed T.HOULT in the lower-left corner and bears the inscription TYNEMOUTH in the lower-right corner. It is housed in a simple black frame with a cream-coloured mount.
