The work is characteristic of late Victorian or Edwardian British genre painting, featuring a lively, impasto-heavy application of paint that provides significant texture to the thatched roof and floral foreground. While dark marks are visible in the lower-left corner, they are not clearly legible as a signature. The piece is accompanied by a handwritten note attributing the work as being in the style of Jonathan Pratt (1835-1911).
