Thomas Christy and Co. antique pharmaceutical cachet machine, also known as a Konseal filling and closing apparatus, used for the preparation of medicinal powder wafers. The set is centred on a nickel-plated metal base with multiple hinged plates containing various sized circular recesses, stamped CHRISTY CACHET MACHINE. It is housed in the original rectangular wooden box with a printed paper instruction label adhered to the inside lid titled CLOSING MACHINES AND HOW TO USE THEM, citing the brand names CYGNET, CHRISTY and KOSEALS. Included with the apparatus are several graduated metal funnels, a wooden-handled damping roller, and a collection of wooden and cork-topped pushers and tampers.
