This antique utility bottle is constructed from dense, dark olive green glass, often referred to as black glass due to its near-opaque appearance. The vessel features a cylindrical body with rounded shoulders and a short neck terminating in a hand-applied rolled lip. Centred on the body is a partial, weathered paper label displaying the printed serif characters JMB:. The bottle is paired with a cylindrical metal cap that fits over the neck. This style of vessel was commonly utilised in the 19th century for apothecary, chemical, or spirit storage, as the dark glass protected light-sensitive contents from degradation.
