An antique French seltzogene or soda syphon by D. Fevre, Paris. The vessel features a double gourd form consisting of two stacked clear glass spheres atop a flared pedestal base. The glass body is entirely encased within a protective hand-woven wire mesh cage. The dispenser assembly, constructed from a dark grey metal alloy, includes a mechanical lever-actuated spout and a decorative finial. The collar of the metal head is embossed with the inscriptions VERITABLE SELTZOGENE D. FEVRE and PARIS. An internal glass tube for the intake of liquid is visible through the exterior glass. This type of device was designed to carbonate water using powders in the lower chamber to create pressure that forced the water through the internal tube and out of the spout.This item has a crack to base
