A collection of mortar and pestle sets comprising varied materials including brass, bronze, glazed ceramic, and stoneware. The group includes a large patinated bronze or heavy brass mortar in the 19th-century apothecary style, featuring a flared rim and hammered, textured exterior surface, paired with a matching pestle with a decorative stepped ring. A hand-painted Dutch delftware ceramic set is decorated with blue floral motifs on a white ground; the mortar features twin lug handles and a pouring lip. The underside of the ceramic mortar is marked 10/83 Blauw, Handpainted, and Made in Holland below a stylized monogram. Also present is a polished brass mortar with horizontal ribbing around the exterior, accompanied by a matching brass pestle. The collection is completed by a shallow, thick-walled stoneware laboratory mortar with a pouring spout and two solid clear glass pestles of differing sizes.
